Stanta have commenced works on a new reclad project in Whitechapel with key client Hill Partnerships following the award of the renovation package at the start of 2024.
The Peter & Painter house development was named after Peter Piaktow who was a Latvian anarchist living in London in the early 20th century. After supposedly fighting in and escaping the Sidney Street Siege (where this building is located) in 1911, he became an anti-hero in London's East End
Originally constructed in 2006 the project was an early Modular construction built by Hill Partnerships using the Rollalong Modular system.
Following investigations into the facade by Airey Miller Surveys on behelf of Tower Hamlets Community Housing recommendations were put forward to remediate the envelope in line with new fire regulations and bring the materials up to new codes.
Stanta were awarded this package in early 2024 to manage the strip down, renovation and recladding of the envelope using similar Rockpanel panels and colours. Work began onsite in April 2024 and is progressing at good pace with a target finish before the end of the year.
