Stanta are please to have secured a new student accomodation project with Henry Construction with the new Trundleys Road project in Lewisham.
This student housing led scheme was designed from feasibility through to successful planning application by Formation Architects, and is located on a Strategic Industrial Land site in Lewisham. The new buildings provide 393 rooms for student accommodation for Tribe Student Housing as well as 58 affordable homes, set above flexible industrial units.
The project will provide a successful co-location scheme of industrial and residential on the same site – so called ‘Beds above sheds’ – one of the first to be consented in London.
Following recent changes to GLA policy, the ground floor contains 19,000 sqft of flexible industrial units, a 168% increase on the previous provision all served from a light industrial yard behind.
The accommodation set above the industrial units is made up of 2 blocks:
Block A, the student housing block, has 15 storeys with a communal space including: a lounge, games room, study areas, cinema and arts studio.
Block B, the mixed tenure affordable housing block shares a communal terrace and is made up of 9 storeys. The design references the industrial heritage of the site with pre-cast red and brown cladding panels.
